PRADIP PYNE completed his Bachelor of Commerce with Honors from University of Calcutta specializing in Finance, Advanced Accounting & Auditing. He received training in Cost & Management Accountancy. He also obtained Master of Business Administration degree from Manipal University specializing in Finance.
His present appointment as Registrar IIT Kharagpur follows 13 year stint as the Head Administration & Finance of National Centre for Biological Research Sciences (NCBS) - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Bengaluru under the aegis of Department of Atomic Energy.
Prior to his appointment at NCBS, he had a 5-year inning as Registrar & Finance Officer of Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. He has also held the position of Audit Officer of Bengal Engineering & Science University (now IIEST), Shibpur (WB). Further, he also served as the Accounts Officer of Inland Waterways Authority of India (Ministry of Shipping), at various locations in India.
Mr. Pyne has experiencein multiple areas of administration, finance & accounts in government, university & research institutes. His key competencies are in the areas of Human Resource Management; General Administration and Maintenance of Support Services; Handling of Purchase & Stores; Maintenance & Service Contracts and Outsourced Functions; Financial Accounting; Management & Investment of Funds; Compilation of Budget; Finalization of Accounts; Analysis of Receipts and Expenditure; Administration of Student Affairs; Administrative & Financial Management of Construction Projects.
In addition, he has the experience of establishing & incubating new institutions under the aegis of Department of Bio Technology, Government of India for the establishment of Institute for Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine (inStem) & Centre for Cellular & Molecular Platforms(C-CAMP)- Section 8(erstwhile Section 25) company under Indian Companies Act. Further, he has actively interfaced with various Government of India Departments & International Funding Agencies e.g. Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Bio-Technology, Welcome Trust UK, HFSP, NSF World Bank etc., for matters relating to grant-in-aid, sponsored projects & approval of schemes. In addition, he functioned as Secretary to the Governing Council, Management Board and other statutory committee(s).
