Research Areas

Prof.Bhattacharya started his research in the area of mining equipment reliability engineering. He also carried on working the environmental engineering and management aspects of mining. Prof. Bhattacharya is a famous scientist in the area of environmental technology and management .He and his team developed a chemo-bioreactor and a Gravity Filter –among few others. His team made pioneering contribution in the development of CaO,Ca (OH)2 and CaS nanoparticles for rapid precipitation and adsorption of in-soluble compounds from wastewater streams. He and his team developed and established a novel spectro-photometric method to measure Sulfate concentrations in the acidic/mining wastewater without Interference of mainly, arsenate and phosphate ions. A continuous theme of research is to develop natural Carbon-Hydrogen-Nitrogen dosage supplements to support sustainable bacterial population in the wastewater remediation treatment. His works are published in the premier journals of environmental and wastewater engineering (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=7L8e1pQAAAAJ&hl=en ). He now works on new materials required for environmental remediation like silver nanoparticle reactants, biochar and metal-organic framework adsorbents and photocataysis. Some of the researches have led to the development of new products in the market. He now works in the multidisciplinery areas of water and wastewatr disinfection and treatment using anti-microbial agents and photocatalytic materials,Developed applications of pyrolysis products of his reaserach finds application in animal feed, paints, cement and water and waste treatment.
